What NATE Certification is and Why it Matters

November 08, 2016

Donelson Air Service Experts in Nashville always talks about how our service techs are NATE-certified, and while it sounds reassuring, what does it actually mean?

NATE is an abbreviation for North American Technician Excellence and, according to their website, is the nation’s largest certification organization for HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) and refrigeration technicians. The organization was developed by and has been supported by the entire HVAC and refrigeration industry but not all people in the industry are required to be certified by NATE. The certification is discretionary and technicians can work in the heating, cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration industry without being NATE-certified.

It’s important to Donelson Air Service Experts that our experts are NATE-certified to be sure we are sending the most qualified and skilled technicians into your home. To make sure professionals meet these criteria, the NATE-certification assessments validate real-world working knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration systems for technicians. The tests are knowledge-based assessments that assess the technician’s knowledge of these subjects.

Since Donelson Air Service Experts focuses on the HVAC side of NATE-certification and not refrigeration, there are only particular areas pertinent to our technicians. NATE exam candidates may receive installation and/or service certification in one or more of the talent areas listed below:

  • Air Conditioning
