Here’s What to Do When Your Furnace Won’t Ignite
We are trudging through the last several weeks of winter but we still have to have our furnaces, especially during cold nights. There’s not a lot that is worse than going to bed at night and realizing your furnace won’t start up. If this happens to you, here are some things you can check yourself before calling Stevenson Service Experts.
Check Air Filters
You should replace standard air filters each month. If you fail to do so, they can become clogged, restricting air flow and resulting in a furnace malfunction.
Check Your Thermostat
Try turning the temperature up a few degrees to get the furnace to kick on. If the current room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t kick on. Also, verify the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem silly, but confirm the power switch next to the furnace is “On.” Even gas heating equipment uses electricity so verify the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch wasn’t accidently switched to the “Off” position.
If you inspect all these things and your heating equipment will still not kick on, give Stevenson Service Experts a call at 614-334-3192 and we’ll come out and get you taken care of as soon as possible.
